The single-stem stock is a versatile flower that boasts long stems and wine-red colored blooms measuring 1 1/2–2 inches in size. It belongs to the early blooming one-cut series and has shown excellent performance in our spring, early summer, and fall trials. This variety exhibits good uniformity in terms of bloom time and stem length. Around 55–60% of the flowers are double-flowering without any selection, and there is also the possibility for some selective breeding. It is important to note that this particular variety only produces one flowering stem per plant, and pinching is discouraged as it will halt the flowering process.
In addition to its aesthetic appeal, the flowers of the single-stem stock are also edible. They possess a peppery and clove-like flavor, making them a suitable garnish for salads, desserts, and drinks.
