To ensure optimal growth and flavor, it is recommended to plant this variety in a well-drained and fertile soil that has a high concentration of organic matter and a pH level between 6.0 and 7.5. It can manage in slightly alkaline soil, but to ensure good root development it is best to loosen the soil deeply or grow in raised beds. This variety can cope with less than ideal conditions, but poor soil will hinder its growth and reduce the quality and taste of the produce.
