Nerve plant (Fittonia spp.), typically cultivated as a potted houseplant, is an evergreen perennial known for its trailing growth and distinctively patterned leaves. The ovate leaves are a vibrant deep-green color and are characterized by delicate veins that can be silvery-white, red, pink, white, or green. The plant usually reaches a height of 3 to 6 inches and has a trailing spread of 12 to 18 inches. When grown indoors, nerve plants rarely produce flowers. However, on occasion, they may bloom with small spikes in reddish or yellowish-white hues. In outdoor settings, in the appropriate zone, nerve plants can also be utilized as a creeping ground cover, particularly in areas with filtered sunlight.
