Vine Peach -
Cultivate your personal supply of mouth-watering fruit ideal for pastries! The fruit offers a combination of honeydew melon and peach flavors when used in dessert preparations. The fruit, similar to the size of a peach at 3 inches, has a yellow shell and sweet, fruity white pulp. This type was exceedingly admired during the Victorian era for the creation of sugary preserves, pickles, and pies. Originating from China, it made its way to America in the 1880s. Simple melon pie recipes can be conveniently found online.
Hales Best -
An early 20th century traditional, velvety, ultra-sweet market muskmelon. I.D. Hale stumbled upon this variety being cultivated by a Japanese American market farmer in Imperial County (close to Brawley, California) back in 1923. This succulent, slick, orange interior melon has since been a constant choice for both home and commercial cultivators!
